Master Reset Instructions
A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.
To perform a master reset, follow these steps:
Performing a factory reset from settings
A factory data (hard) reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can’t hear, device making noises, can’t make or receive calls and device won’t sync. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren’t currently using the tool.
Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:
§ Google TM account
§ System and app data
§ App settings
§ Downloaded apps
§ Music, pictures and videos (It’s recommended to backup this data).
An alternate reset method is available if the device is unresponsive or won’t power on.
1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon (located in the lower-left).
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Tap Factory data reset.
5. Tap Reset phone.
6. Tap Erase everything.
Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
Skip Google account setup during initial activation to determine if third-party app is the cause of an issue.
Perform a hard reset on your HTC Droid Eris. These steps will clear all data and settings off the device.
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down, Send (green phone) and Power buttons. The device will turn on. Keep holding down the keys unto you see a screen to clear storage.
2. Press the track ball.
3. Follow the instructions to complete the hard reset.
