Master Reset Instructions

A master reset reverts the device back to factory settings. It will permanently erase all personal data, preferences, settings and content such as pictures, ringtones and apps that are saved to the device. Data stored on an SD card will not be erased unless otherwise selected. It is recommended that you save (backup) important data to your SIM, SD card, or a computer before proceeding.

Instructions:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key, and then tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to and tap Privacy.
  3. Tap Factory Data Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Phone.
  5. Tap Erase Everything.

Master reset with hardware keys

  1. Power off the device.
    NOTE: If unable to power off, remove and reinsert the battery.
  2. Press and hold Volume Down key, and then press the Power key.
  3. When the the screen displays Fast boot, press the volume down key to cycle through choices until you get Android Recovery, and then press the Volume up key.
  4. Wait for the triangle/Android screen to appear, then tap at the bottom right corner of the screen. A menu will appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key and highlight Wipe data/factory reset, and then tap Ok.
  6. Press the Volume down key and highlight Yes — delete all user data, and then tap Ok.
  7. After the user data is cleared, reboot system now will be highlighted by default. Tap Ok.
  8. The phone reboots to initial setup MOTOBLUR screen.
